5. Combating Child Domestic Labour ‐ Follow up


                        Program at Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh


                    The project outcome includes:
                       1.  Children at risk of child labor and children exploited through labor claim their
                           rights

                       2.  Families and communities protect children from (the worst forms of child labor
                       3.  Government protects children by making and adequately implementing laws and
                           policies to protect children from worst forms of child labor

                       4.  Law enforcement agencies convict perpetrators of child labour
                       5.  Civil society organizations protect the rights and best interests of children (and
                           children vulnerable to worst forms of child labor

                    Project Beneficiaries: The project reached directly to 632 girls and 562 boys belongs to
                    the age groups of 6‐14 years, who are involved in child domestic labourers or subject to
                    vulnerability to labour and indirectly benefit 1756 individuals representing community
                    members/leaders, duty bearers and parents/caregivers etc.

                    Taking the designed intervention way forward, Plan India and its partner NGOs have
                    carried out all majority of the planned activities in the reporting period, we are here with
                    spell out some of the key achievements as follows.

                    The  child  protection  committee  80  and  Child  Forums  80  are  meeting regularly and
                    discussing on the issues related to children and developing possible action plans to sort
                    out the problems during their monthly meetings. In the 40 tuition centres special care
                    has  been  taken  by  the  tutors  (Tuition  Teachers)  in  developing  class  appropriate
                    competences through extra learning sessions in a regular basis, they are performing well
                    in the class rooms related to other children. Children supported with teaching learning
                    materials and ensured their regular attendance in their respective classes/schools. In
                    these reporting period 1547 children participated in child forum meetings and sharing
                    their observations with others.

                    Follow up of Tuition Canters:
                    Implementation: BIRDS established tuition centres for the CL & VTL children. In
                    this reporting period the tuition teachers of all the 40 centres focused more on the
                    improvement children’s quality education. The teachers are deeply involved in the
                    teaching learning  process  ensuring minimum level of  learning.  The  CPCs  are
                    regularly monitoring the Tuition Canters and encouraging the students as well as
                    the parents to make use of Tuition Centres.

                    Outcome/Results: In these Tuition Canters 36 boys & 101 girls of CL, 381 boys &
