7. Sanitary Napkin Project (SNP)
BIRDS ‐ SHELTER International to empower marginalized widows and abandoned
women in rural & urban areas of Andhra Pradesh, India. BIRDS ‐ SHELTER aims to achieve
this goal through education, advocacy, better health & hygiene and promotion of safe and
secure employment for these widows / women.
Project Purpose and Goals:
The goal of the Sanitary Napkin Project (SNP) is to provide a safe and respectful
workplace for widows in a social business that will benefit women and girls in the area
by providing them with affordable sanitary napkins.
BIRDS with the help of SHELTER International started Sanitary Napkin Project on 26 th
July 2014 at Mythayalapadu campus, running successfully with employment to 10
widows in production, and five other supports personal for marketing and management.
Current Activities: Napkins making SNP trainings given in year 2022
24 ‐ 01 – 2022: 3days SNP training given to 4 persons at birds SNP for Kakinada team
25 – 01 – 2022: 3days SNP training given to 5 persons at birds SNP for Polavaram team
Also given awareness classes on using of sanitary napkins to the above all trainees
